  19. I would say that my favorite lyric comes from one of my favorite songs. It's called "woah(mind in awe)." The lyric I chose says "won't let you cloud my my mind." There's a lot of people who will try to be distractions in life. You can't let people cause you to get off the right path. Stay focused on your goals. If people are trying to get you down, it is likely because they are insecure about their own journey. That being said, when I hear this song, it is a reminder to stay the course and keep pushing through in life.

  20. One of my favorite songs is All Too Well by Taylor Swift. The entire song uses imagery and metaphors to describe Taylor's journey through love and heartbreak at a young age. One of my favorite lyrics goes, "and you call me up again just to break me like a promise, so casually and cruel in the name of being honest, I'm a crumpled up piece of paper lying here, cause I remember it all too well". This lyric describes how easy it seems to be heatbroken/used, while comparing feeling heartbreak to a crumpled up piece of paper.

I feel that this song lyric paints a picture of struggle but through that struggle comes something better after. These words are being used to paint the feelings of Trippie Redd himself but also reaches out to those who may be feeling the same. I also like this this for imagery because the image of imagery at the end about just going all out through the struggle to fly or succeed.

  24. My favorite song lyric is “I believe that says go slow and years go fast, and everyday is a gift the first one to the last”. I chose this lyric because even when I am down and upset about something, there is always something to be grateful for, and that is being alive and waking up this morning. I completely see what Luke Bryan is saying when he says that days go slow and years go fast.

  25. “She’s just a girl and she’s on fire.” -Alicia Keys. I love the use of fire metaphorically. It provides you with an image of a girl who’s strong, motivated, confident, bold, intelligent, amongst other things. Fire shows her layers of power while keeping the lyric concise and beautiful.

In this song Zach Bryan uses the lyrics something in the orange to represent a sunset. He talks about the orange colors dancing in her eyes, and it gives him hope that they will be together. Sunsets are something him and his love in the song share and he uses imagery to represent a sign of beauty in their love.

  28. Haley Kolinski:
My favorite song lyrics are from the song ¨Ghost Town¨ by Kanye West. The lyrics are ¨and nothing hurts anymore. I feel kind of free, we’re still the kids we used to be.¨ I love these lyrics because it is almost like a release. As we grow towards adulthood we develop a different kind of stress. We have to deal with the things that we never had to as children. This stress can develop so deeply that it hurts. Therefore becoming a kid again would feel like a newfound freedom.

  29. "All the old containers that I fill with my past, You can find them on the second floor under my bed"
This lyric is from the song Out of Tune by The Backseat Lovers. I think this is a lyric that really paints a picture that most people can relate to especially in this point in our lives as we left for college. Our pasts are all sitting back in our homes and we came leaving things behind.

  30. " I guess, be careful what you wish for, is all I meant when I said what you see is what you get." This is a song lyric from the song What You See Is What You Get by Luke Combs. 31. My favorite song lyric is, "the sun is hot and that ole clock is moving slow, and so am I". This reminds me of when I was working in the summer. At my job, I was stuck in an office waiting for my shift to be over, despite it being perfect pool weather outside. The suspense of waiting for the workday to end built up throughout the day. I could not wait to get outside to the hot sun.

  32. "And when I felt like I was an old cardigan under someone's bed You put me on and said I was your favorite" is my favorite lyric from Taylor Swifts song Cardigan. I like the imagery in this lyric how she makes you think of an old cardigan or one of your old pieces of clothing and when you put on an old piece of clothing and remember how much you love it, and relates it to how you feel when you see and old significant other.

  33. It would have to be from my favorite song of all time, Heroes by David Bowie. This song speaks to me in so many ways because it deals with Bowies’ time in Berlin, it specifically portrays the period of the Berlin Wall. My favorite line come in about two-thirds into the song, “I can remember standing by the wall and the guns shot above our heads and we kissed as though nothing could fall.” It’s such a pivotal moment in history and such a intimate moment between lovers and something so sacred as being reunited.

  34. My favorite song lyric would have to be “Nobody’s perfect, I gotta work it, again and again to make it right, nobody’s perfect.” This lyric is a perfect representation of life. Nobody was put on this earth to be perfect. We are meant to make mistakes because it makes us better people and without our mistakes we would not know how to improve within ourselves. Working hard to make things right and to set goals for ourselves is so important and it allows so much growth for any individual. Nobody is perfect and that is what makes us unique!

  36. The song lyrics I chose are, "no one's ever gonna love you more than God, your mama, and me." I chose these because my mom is my best friend and no one is a better supporter than she is. Along with that I grew up in the Catholic church and my mom is the one who is especially close with God and reminds me to look to him for support as well. The singer is saying that he will love the girl as much as his mom and God, which to me means that he loves her more than anyone else in the world. He is her biggest supporter and to me it would be important for someone to support as much as my mom and God do.

  40. Stubborn Love by The Lumineers “it’s better to feel pain, than nothing at all, the opposite of love’s indifference” This is my favorite song lyric and it has been for a long time. To me it sounds more like a meaningful quote, they’re saying that all feelings matter and it’s always best to feel than be numb.

  41. "Comfortable silence is so overrated". I can picture two people, stuck in a room who are currently unable to speak to one another because they're too afraid of hurting the others feelings but they're so used to holding in how they feel to the point it’s comfortable.

  42. "Fly me to the moon. Let me play among the stars. Let me see what spring is like on A-jupiter and Mars..." Fly me to the moon by Frank Sinatra I enjoy this imagery because space, stars, and planets intrigue me greatly.

  44. My favorite song lyric from the song "Here Comes the Sun" by the Beatles. It says "Little darlin', the smile's returning to their faces." This is imagery because you can imagine smiles on people's faces as the "sun" (whether that be a literal sun or a good thing coming into their life) rises again.

  45. Alicia Keys, in her song, "No One" says, “I know some people search the world to find something like what we have.” I think, without even knowing her history, you can tell that she was in a relationship and she cherished it heavily. You can sense, through the devices she uses, the passion and the love she has for whatever memory she is describing.

  46. One of my favorite lyrics from a song from morgan wallen is "I thought you should know that all those prayers you thought you wasted on me, Must've finally made their way on through". 48. My favorite song includes the lyric "How can a person know everything at eighteen but nothing at twenty-two?" by Taylor Swift. This line really makes you think that we really have a lot more to learn. When I look back at my life 2 years ago, I really thought I knew how things worked. However, looking back I really did not know anything at all then and there is a lot I don't know now.

  49. "if you leave today, ill just stare at the way the orange touches all things around. the grass trees and dew how I just hate you please turn those headlights around."

Something in the orange- Zach Bryan
I like how he uses the concept of sunsets throughout the song. He talks about how they aren't done and although like a sunset it seems like an ending, the sun will rise again.

  50. My favorite lyric comes from a song called "Stubborn Love" by the Lumineers. The Lyric goes, "It's better to feel pain, than nothing at all. The opposite of love's indifference." I love the truth behind these words and the way that they remind someone in pain that feeling emotions, whether good or bad, is a beautiful thing. It is an amazing thing to care about someone or something, and this can result in heartache. Heartache and pain are a part of life. It is inevitable and it means that you're living. This lyric has become very popular on social media and many people have been able to relate to the lyric in their own way which I also love.

  52. My favorite song lyric is, “ Put a price on emotion/I’m looking for something to buy”. I feel like it’s very relatable and tells the story of not feeling like you can truly express yourself. In this song the artist is upset and wants to be vulnerable but is in a spot where they’ve accepted the circumstance. However, they think like they should be feeling a different way, and be showing an emotion that they don’t currently have which is why they’re saying they are looking to buy one.

These lyrics are from Demian’s song “Yes”. The whole song makes me feel as if I’m in a slow moving party where there is some tension between the singer and the person they’re talking about. The way Demian uses his soothing voice combined with his lyrics really puts me in the space he’s creating.

  55. My favorite lyric is from All Too Well by Taylor Swift. "Im a crumpled up piece of paper lying here...". It shows the despair she's in from being used and abandoned and she feels broken and all torn up from this relationship.

  56. “My dear we’re slow dancing in a burning room”. These lyrics from the song Slow Dancing in a Burning Room by John Mayer represents two people in a relationship who know they shouldn’t be together because they're in different stages in their lives but they share a love for each other and want to stay together as long as possible. I believe this represents the saying, right person at the wrong time, because the imagery shows a couple slow-dancing in a room that is burning. The burning represents the relationship coming to an end while the dancing represents the love they still share with each other.

  57. My favorite song lyric is from a song called Cat's in the Cradle by Harry Chapin, specifically when in the song he has a repeated lyric of "and the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon Little boy blue and the man in the moon "when are you coming home dad" "I don't know when" But we'll get together again. I chose this because I think it uses imagery with the classic children's rhyme to demonstrate the songs hidden message that parents often live their lives in such a rush they often miss their own children growing up which is shown when the child asks the father when he will be coming home only to get the response of "I don't know when", "but we'll get together then".

  58. "You look down on where you came from sometimes
But you'll have this place to call home, always

These lyrics mean a lot to me because it talks about home and how we should always remember where we came from and how that's part of our memories and good moments

  59. My favorite song lyric is “my house is not much to talk about but its filled with love that’s grown in southern ground”. 60. My favorite song lyric is "were slow dancing in a burning room" In the song Slow Dancing in a Burning Room by John Mayer. These lyrics really speak to me because it represents a relationship that is slipping through, despite all of the negative things that might be going on, you chose to ignore them carry on. I love these lyrics because I have a lot of personal experience that goes along with those words. And I know that situations like this can be extremely tough. Especially recently, it brings out a lot of emotions for me.

  61. My favorite song lyric “But my hearts of gold I had to run away high so I wouldn’t come home low just when things went right it doesn’t mean they were always wrong.” Which comes from Home Sweet Home by Motley Crue. This lyric means a lot to me because it shows that in life you have to do what makes you happy before you regret not taking that chance.

  62. "First thing's first, rest in peace uncle Phil- forreal. You're the only father I ever knew. Get my b**** pregnant, be a better you."
These lyrics from J. Cole speak out to me because i never had a father growing up, just father figures. All of them showed me different things in life, but they all wanted me to be better than they were. These lyrics are a compliment to "Uncle Phil" as he showed on screen that it doesn't have to be my child for me to raise it with the love and encouragement they need to be successful, creative individuals themselves.

  63. BRANDON FIGUEROA

The song lyric with the most imagery that I can think of right now is frank sinatra’s thats life. “Ive been a puppet, a pauper, a pirate, a poet, a pawn and a King. Ive been up and down and over and out, and i know one thing.” Frank’s self comparisons to the different versions of himself are made explicable, in a manner where you can tell that he’s been each and every one of those things at one point in life, and as he states: “that’s life”, almost as if there is no other way to live but through the various manifestations of your own self.

  64. I chose I Was on a Boat That Day by Old Dominion and the lyric, “the river was rolling I was getting my float on She was telling me so long I was already so long gone”. It reminds me of summer spending my days on my boat in Montana and describes the river flowing and relaxing all day long.

  65. A lyric that means a lot to me is “You promise me each time you leave, you haven’t seen the last of me, it’s just I’ll never have enough of you, feed me any line, just tell me this won’t be the last time” from Adam Melchior’s “Last Time.” As a military kid I’ve moved a lot and one of the scariest parts has always been the idea that I would never see the people that mean the most to me again. I found this song when I was a junior in high school and about to move 600 miles away for my senior year. Two years later as a freshman in college, these lyrics are still relate.

  66. “And for the first time, what’s past is past.” This is a lyric from Taylor Swift’s ‘Begin Again’. 70. "Oh nothings changed, you're still sweet as the mornin' rain..." Marvin Gaye "Come Get To This."
Gaye conveys his feelings about his lover through the use of lighthearted imagery. This lyric stands out to me because I've experienced the relaxing sensation of early mornings/early morning dew. Early mornings are peaceful and allow you to feel a sense of calm and clarity. Love can feel calm and steady, and I think that Marvin Gaye does a great job in using imagery to portray his affection that he feels for his lover.

  71. “Isn’t it lovely all alone, heart made of glass my mind of stone, tear me to pieces skin and bone”
    - lovely by Billie Eillish and Khalid
It isn’t really my favorite lyrics but when I think of imagery I think of this verse, its not literal or functional imagery but the figurative imagery is so detailed. I still remember the first time I read it I felt it all the way to my soul. when it mentions heart made of glass, you feel that delicate state its in because glass can shatter into a million pieces and then comparing the mind to stone which almost contradicts the glass but adds to the tone of the song. Then it says tear me to pieces which at first I imagined just blocks with clean cuts but adding the skin and bone made it seem a little more violent. And then if that wasn’t enough the next verse is hello welcome home. I can’t really say I know what the lyrics were supposed to mean but to me this is kind of saying ‘oh this is what the person has to face everyday, this is what they have to live with, they can’t escape it so they made it their home’.

  73. My lyric is "Death doesn't just happen to you, It happens to your family and your friends" from the song I Always Want to Die (Sometimes) by The 1975. I chose this lyric because it exemplifies what would happen to your friends and family if you were to commit suicide. It was a song written during the peak of suicide for young teens to help them realize they are not alone and that they can persevere through the hard time they are going through. As a person who struggles with mental health, this lyric really speaks to me because it is true. You affect everyone with your decisions and there is no way to take back the damage of suicide.

  74. The better part, the human heart, you love ’em or dissect ’em (Pride by Kendrick Lamar). I love this lyric because if you haven’t heard the full song, it’s a very emotional yet beautiful one. This lyric stuck out to me because it shows the duality of the world, how you van find people that love you for who you are, and there’s going to be people that use you for their advantage.

  77. One song I love that uses good imagery to tell a story is from Lil Dicky’s “Russell Westbrook on a Farm”. While it is a little goofy, it contains some of the best writing I have heard in music and serves as a metaphor for Lil Dicky’s self prophesied rise to greatness. The story of Russell Westbrook growing up on a farm but finding his way to a basketball court mirrors Lil Dicky’s childhood in an upper middle class neighborhood and finding his way into rap music. In a later verse he raps, Feelin' weird, lemme think of an analogy, just imagine for a second what if Russell Westbrook never knew his own mentality. Grew up on a farm where the biggest commonality was people that conform to the ruralest localities. To Russell though it was nuffin' but normality And he really nice up on the plow in actuality.” While the song is nearly nine minutes long with no choruses, this one small line perfectly invites us to imagine this fictional scenario Lil Dicky has created for the audience.
