    1. BRANDON FIGUEROA

“If you don’t care enough about money then you’ll be restricted to it your whole life. You see, money is what get you places, and the number one vacation spot for families is a place outside of your hometown. You and I both know that money doesn’t buy happiness, but for every dollar you earn you’re more likely to escape your troubles.”

To this, all I can do is sit back and take it all in. It’s true, that what he says is something that him and I both know yet I make the mistake of forgetting it over and over. Talking about money always gets me hot, but today I just froze, rendered unable to respond.

“Let’s think about this, 5 years ago you made 10 bucks an hour with your old man, 2 years ago you made 13 at the restaurant, this year you’re making 16 with all the time in the world to put in the hours. You think your going up in the world, but how does a 6 dollar difference make a millionaire?”

  2. Coming home from a long day of work I walked into my apartment and started telling the first person I see on the couch everything about my day the drama that happened, the good moments I had, and why I was so mad. Both of my friends looking at me shocked but instead of letting them speak I continue on with my day and telling them how much of a struggle it was. When they both felt like I was coming to an end in my story I add more and more both still speechless wanting to ask what, why, and are you okay. While going off topic of my work day both faces change in a sense of wanting to talk or let a word out I cut them off with even bigger news of what happened in my day. Making eye contact with them I know they want to scream and give me feedback I just continue on with my problems, both looking upset of why I will not stop talking to let them speech I end my story with I will be going to bed and leave it like that.

  3. Regina stared at Gretchen as she screamed at her face, “Gretchen it’s Wednesday and you’re not wearing pink. You can’t sit with us!” Gretchen looked around at all the pink track suits then looked down at her outfit. She didn’t know what to say. She was wearing a sweatshirt and grey sweatpants, and noticed that she forgot it was Wednesday. “Regina you have to leave, on Wednesdays we were pink and you are not wearing pink, you can’t sit with us!!.” Gretchen yelled in Reginas face. Her arms were crossed and you could see her eyes getting very watery. She stomped away in disbelief, while the other girls at the table were proud of Gretchen.

  4. She shook rapidly shook her head no. Like she was internally screaming it but no words could emerge. Her body was screaming, but still nothing. Her arms were waving in every direction, her legs trying to run fast enough but still she couldn’t make it. Without a voice no one would hear her suffer, without a voice no one could help her, without a voice no one seemed to care. The man said to her “no one can hear you”, and then she was gone.

  5. “It’s you I like, the way you are right now,” says the boyfriend. Riley gives him a look that speaks more than just words. Riley is saying that she does not feel loved, she hears that she is loved, but she does not feel it. “My sweetheart, you are not worthless, you are loved, you are worthy of the greatest love, and you are enough just as you are,” a tear drop rolls down her face as the boyfriend recites those words. The boyfriend recites these words every day, because he believes that if Riley hears these words, she will eventually believe them. And that is all the boyfriend wants. “All I want is for you to feel wanted, you are too special to be feeling this sad.” Riley, still silent, nods in an acknowledging way letting her boyfriend know that she heard him, but still does not quite yet agree with it.

  6. Heather’s mom busted into Heather’s room. “What’s wrong?” She asked. Heather glanced at her and looked away. “You’ve been acting weird all week. Your room is a mess and I got a call from your principal that you haven’t been going to school. Is there something that I need to know?” Heather hesitated to speak, she looked down as she was in the midst of crying on her bedroom floor. She sniffles quietly, hoping her mother couldn’t hear it. “I don’t want you to think I’m mad at you, I want to help you in any way that I can. Is someone bothering you at school? Is there drama you’re dealing with?” Once again, heather refused to look at her mom, but she shrugged and laid her head down low. There was a minute of silence until Heather’s mother spoke again. “If you’re not going to tell me, then who are you going to tell? Do I have to take you somewhere? Would you like to leave the house for a little, would you like me to take you out for some fun?” Heather’s head and face lifted, she give her mom a smile and stood up. “We’re leaving in five minutes, go get ready.” Heather scrambled to get dressed, she decided to wear a pair of jeans and a hoodie since it’s getting chilly. After putting her clothes and shoes on, she grabbed her wallet. “You wouldn’t be needing that, everything is on me. You deserve to see some love today, I know it hasn’t been easy.” They both left the house for a fulfilling day.

Derek: He stood there in silence. Nodding his head agreeing with what Sophia said but nothing came out his mouth. You can tell he has a lot to say and is thinking, but he just stands still like a ghost.
Sophia: She waited patiently and said, " I am your sister and will always be there, but if you continue to lash out and then not say a word I will refuse to help you anymore when you get into trouble"
Derek: Looked at Sophia, his eyes filled with tears. He walked up to her gave her a hug and as he pushed away all his tears came crashing down. He sped away from her as if that was the last time he was going to see his sister. He left in silence and didn't look backl

  8. “Do you want me to hold you? No? Um, okay. Okay. Okay. Don’t freak out it’s gonna be okay, baby. I just don’t understand what you want,” the mother said as her baby sat fussing in his high chair.

“What about your dog? Do you want to hold Joey? Joey will make you feel better.” She places a dirty, threadbare plush dog with a red bandana sewn around his neck on the table next to the baby.

The baby stops his screams for a moment, studies the peculiar stuffed creature, then knocks it to the floor and starts his wailing again.

“Oh, oh, oh, oh, please don’t cry.” His mother is almost tearful with her request. “You’ve been upset all morning. I just don’t get it.”

Her baby start banging on the side of his chair with one hand, reaching out with his other tiny fingers for something on the counter behind his mother. She turns slowly, finally understanding what he’s trying to communicate.

“Oh…” she sighs aloud, lightly hitting her palm against her forehead as she sees what is there.

Sitting on the granite countertop behind her is her baby’s forgotten bottle, only slightly warm from where she warmed it about ten minutes ago. She had sat it down to put the baby in the high chair and then her phone rang, and she forgot about the bottle on the counter.

  9. It's almost Christmas. Therefore I am standing in the kitchen with Lindsey and Kaitlyn making our mom's famous Christmas cutout cookies. However, there is a twist. She cannot speak and I have no clue how to make cookies.

"So I just pour in the flour then eggs right?" I say. In return, I see Lindsey violently shaking her head. I won't be surprised if she gets a concussion from the trauma she is putting her brain through.

"What do you mean no? What am I supposed to do?" I am rewarded with many hand signals and her flapping her hands around. She has this look of exasperation on her face, and I am not appreciating it.

“STOP YELLING AT ME! I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO AND WHY YOU THOUGHT THIS WOULD BE SUCH A GREAT IDEA!!” I shout at her. If looks could kill, I would be gasping for breath from the look Lindsey is giving me right now.

Next thing I know she is storming out of the kitchen with smoke in her ears, and my mother walks in. “What in god's name are you two doing? I'm gone for an hour! Clean it up.”

    Oops.

  10. "My dear Mr. Thomas," said his wife to him one day, "have you heard about the shooting going on in South America?" Mr. Thomas replied with a simple head nod, indicating he had not heard of such thing. "It's true, the on going conflict has arisen" his wife prompted him. Mr Thomas had no answer, but from his emotions, you could tell he was disgusted.

His wife would go on to talk about how the "evil of the world is back in play". While Mr. Thomas was left speechless, he didn't agree with his wife, thinking to himself "What side are you on", but decided to keep his mouth shut.

  11. "Why am I receiving the silent treatment? I do not understand what I did to deserve this" stated Chester. In response, Jay turned away in disgust. Chester, being persistent, responded with "If you would just tell me what I did wrong, I am sure that we can fix it". Jay continued to ignore Chester and not respond. Jay's body language reminded Chester of a mother who was disappointed in her child. "Jay you are literally acting like a child, why don't you man up and forget about it. If I hurt your feelings this bad why don't you admit it or make fun of me back?" questioned Chester. No matter how hard Chester tries to fix the problem, Jay continues to give him the silent treatment. Jay obviously had enough at this point, for he briskly left the room. "I can't believe this kid" whispered Tyler.

I think you need to change
She has the question why in her face
There’s a few things I would change if I could, now I can, now it’s up to you
    She rolls her eyes
I have a list of events that will happen in the future can you please think through them

  14. As I look across the table I see my best friend but my greatest foe, Jacob. His dark brown eyes slowly scan the board deciding what genius move he’ll make next. As I watch him, trying to decipher what’s going on behind his blank stare, without a moment to waist he quickly moves his queen diagonal from my king. What once was a face of no emotion turns to a cynical grin. The color fades from my face as the only thing I can think of is, checkmate.

As I say again, “Hello wise man, do you know the way to the promise lands of jewan?” He says two words to me as he points in a direction, “Never pass”, says the wise man. He continues to say these two words as I walk where he is pointing. I am so confused but at the same time I have confidence that I will pass. As I walk pass him he grabs my arm and says, “The ignorant will be addressed soon”. Me being me I walk away and don’t listen to the man.

Just let me take you out once more to prove that I can be a good friend.” Brianna huffs and rolls her eyes revealing that she’s been in this spot one too many times. “I promise I can be what you want me to be. Just give me another chance. You barely gave me the chance to show you in the first place. You owe it to me.” Brianna takes a big step back. “You are so talented, smart, and just easy to be around, you’re wasting your potential by hiding yourself away from me.” Brianna flips her hair and struts away from Ralph with great speed. “No wait! Can I at least just have one more hug?” She doesn’t answer but he does it anyways. She stares at the floor with disbelief, thinking about how she’s “wasted potential” just by not giving a man what he wants. “Bye, if you need time I understand.” There’s fire in her eyes now. She throws her head into her hands as she walks always to deceive him of her feelings, but she was content in knowing that she had finally gotten rid of the narcissist.

Addie sits there, beaming with joy, and a hint of pride for what she knows she has accomplished. “Do you want to go get ice cream to celebrate?” Kelsey asks kindly. Addie sinks into her seat with a sour expression on her face. “Is something wrong with ice cream?” Kelsey quickly remarks. “Can we go to Taco Bell instead?” Addie slowly nods her head, still reluctant to agree to any one of those plans. Just when Kelsey remembers, she said to Addie, “Oh, I remember now. Last time you went out to get ice cream with mom, you came back and didn’t feel so great. And last week when you got taco bell with Ben, they got your order all wrong. We don’t have to go out to celebrate, we can make cookies here at home!” Addies face brightens, as she skips to the fridge to grab some cookie dough.

  20. I was in the midst of preparing the most epic surprise party of all time for my best friend on this entire planter. Her name is Ava Nielsen and she is going to be turning 18 this year. I spent months asking her what she wanted to do for her birthday. After all, 18 is a big year because you are finally seen as an adult in society. One day I asked her, “Ava do you want to have a smaller dinner celebration?” She just nodded her head which I thought was really strange because typically she is over the moon when it comes to her birthday. I could tell by her body language that she was really nervous when it came to planning something for her birthday. She would tense up and just stare at the floor.

This is when I decided to take it upon myself and relieve her of her stress. I told her, “Ava you do not have to worry about planning anything on your birthday anymore I am going to figure something out for you!” She just had the biggest smile on her face and she just about tackled me with the biggest hug. I knew just by her reaction that this is exactly what she wanted me to do she just couldn’t tell me.

I had been wanting this for weeks, but i just had no clue how to spit it out. looking at him he was waiting for me to tell him what i wanted to say, but i just didn’t know how. i eventually just had to spit it out. “it’s over, i’m so sorry but it has to be over,” I said to his waiting face. His face contorted and he started hyperventilating and crying. i had never seen him like this before. i said, “ surely you knew what was coming i had been acting distant for weeks.” all he could do was cry. at this point he was rolling on the floor in agony and i did not know what to do. I just rubbed his back and tried to console him while he was writhing. I just let him cry. I told him that i would always love him and gave him the iconic line of “it’s not you, it’s me.” i’m not sure I could watch this any longer, and i got up and left.

  22. I've been wanting to tell them how I feel for so long but I don't know where to even start. Should I start from the beginning? From how I feel now? I've been holding on to these feelings, these emotions for so long that, I don't even what to say nor start. Will they shut me down like always? I can't let them, I WON'T let them. I'm left speechless when I have so much to say.

Why won't she say anything? I hate when she does this. I know so much is on her mind but why is she too scared to tell me. " Tell me, just tell me please. I begged and begged. I never realized how much I shut her out. I've changed so much since the beginning of our relationship. " I'm ready to listen. I hate sitting here, watching you suffer from all that I've put you through. I'm ready to listen."

“I mean havent you ever been told not to play with fire?” The aggressive questions continued, bombarding the frozen child, “don’t you know not to go into abandoned buildings?” The tension and aggression rising up in the man, as the child remained silent, motionless.

After a moment of nothing but the child’s silent sobs, the man lowered to the child’s level, “Hey, look at me,” a softer tone began, regardless the child’s face scrunched up, turned sharply away from the man, “fine…lets go find your parents.

All three of us were hungry so Mike asked Noah “hey man, what are we gonna get to eat? We got a lot of options nearby.” Noah just shrugged his shoulders and turned back into the covers. Mike who really wants something to eat and is standing outside of Noah’s door, then says “come on dude, I know you’re upset and I get it but you you got to at least eat. You’ve barely talked to us in days.” Noah then responds by closing the door very softly on Mike and then he goes back into his bed and to being sad. Noah and I then went to go get Wendys.

Young Ben couldn't believe it not only did his dad make sauerkraut but he also expects him to go work on the farm after eating the discussing cuisine. Ben thinks to himself one more straw may break the camel's back.

The small girl cowered from the stranger. Dipping further into the darkness.

“I'm not going to hurt you I promise. My name is Sarah and I want to help. What’s your name?”
The silence grew loud as the child considered Sarah’s presence, before meeting her eyes. She pointed slowly to the patch of flowers nearby.

“Flower. Is it a type of flower?”
The little good shook her head. Pointing to more of the leaves and plants around her feet.
    “Flora?”
Little Flora smiled softly, nodding her head at Sarah.
“What a spectacular name. I have a sister named Rose. Do you have any family nearby?”
Flora’s eyes dropped to the ground and her shoulders gave a half-hearted shrug. Sarah was beginning to wonder if Flora didn’t want help because Flora didn’t want to go back to where she came from.

“Ben please we need to discuss what happened and I promise I can explain what went on.”
*Ben shook his head swiftly* giving Becca indication that he was already checked out of the conversation before it even began.
“I beg you Ben, just one conversation and it will all make sense to you. It was not what it looked like, I promise you,”
But now Ben doesn’t even shake his head, he simply just stares off into space hoping that Becca will just take a hint and move on.
But Becca does not give up on the idea of a conversation, “Ben I love you and I know you love me. We can make this work between us, you just need to talk to me. Please stop ignoring me.”
*Ben reaches into his backpack to pull out a sheet of paper and without making a noise he scratches his idea onto paper and writes down one single word… NO.
That finally leaves Becca speechless, just like Ben. As she watches Ben walk away those dense tears begin to stream down her face and she feels completely empty without Ben being beside her.

I keep going on and on about the mistakes we made and why we lost. They still will not say a word so I just sit there knowing they are mad that we lost as well. 29. They both sat across from each other for the next 20 minutes, that was until he decided that the distance was “too far” and pulled his chair right next to hers.

“Are you sure you don’t want to order anything else? The sun hasn’t even set yet, and I feel like there’s so much more I could learn about you before the night’s over.”

The woman shifted slightly in her seat, the legs of the object making a slight noise against the wooden floor as the little space between them only slightly grew. Her eyebrows furrowed as she stared down at her unfinished plate, no more than 3 bites were taken before she requested a to-go box.

“You’ve been really quiet tonight too, you’re so mysterious. Most girls at least laugh at my jokes, but you have only looked at me like 5 times since we sat down.”

Another shift. The woman’s hands pulled at the bottom of her skirt in an attempt to make it longer even though it already was passing the tops of her knees when she sat down, falling down her calves when she was standing.

After a few seconds of no response other than the shift, the woman jumped upwards in surprise, “Don’t worry, it’s only my hand on your knee, not a spider or whatever bug girls are scared of. Your legs are so soft too, I’m jealous. My legs are pretty rough from the work I do.”

Finally the woman stood up, her chair nearly falling over behind her. Without another word, she turned around and briskly walked out, the to-go box forgotten as she stepped into the quiet outside of the dimly lit restaurant. She wrapped her hands around herself while trying to find her car in the lonely night. A cold tear began to slowly roll down her right cheek.

His eyes filled with tears, which made him uncomfortable because he disliked vulnerability. He buried his head in his hands to hide his emotions from her. "I thought I meant something to you...that I meant more than anything else in the world," she said. His glance slowly rose until it was level with her eyes. He looked at her as though he was looking into her soul. However, he was no longer sad. In fact, he looked somewhat emotionless. He began to write something slowly on a white sheet of paper. He turned the piece of paper and slid it towards her so she could see what he wrote. A tear rolled down her cheek and hit the floor. She looked back at him, "that's what I thought."

The man on the left was the people’s man, everyone knows him as the notorious one, his name is Connor Mcgreggor. The man on the right is another people’s man, Floyd Money Maywether. Connor yells to Floyd “You will do nothing, get out of here, you’ll do nothin!” Floyds quick response is to just maintain his hard glare at Connor. Connor tries again to get into his skin and yells more confidently “I will win, I am the man, you are nothing, you will do nothing and you will become fifty and one!” Floyd responds by tightening his glare and walking towards Connor, but Connor has been trying to get this reaction. Floyd begins to pick up the pace and they both are about to clash at the center stage, Floyd begins to throw punches but Connor weaves and dodges through them all. Floyd keeps punching but Connor continues to dodge and while dodging he is taunting “You are too old… you are gonna be fifty and one… I am that guy!” Floyd then calmed himself and the scuffle dispersed, Floyd then sat on his side of the stage and gathered himself. Connor continued his taunting but Floyd realized if he was to give no reaction, the, Connor would be the fool. The rest of the press conference he maintained his composure and showed how he is no longer falling for or allowing him to get under his skin.

I am so sorry for your loss." Jeff's eyes finally met mine and I saw a tear begin to roll down the right side of his face. I wrapped my arms around him to comfort him. I felt as his body began to melt into mine. "It's going to be okay," I said, "He is in a better place now, and I know that he loved you so much. It's not your fault." Jeff pulled away from me and began to wipe his eyes. I waited for him to say something, anything at all. He was too hurt to express any of his emotions. I then stated, "When it is all said and done, you can do nothing about the decisions another person makes. You might be able to influence another person, but ultimately it is their decision with the ways that they choose to live their lives." I saw a slight release form across his face.

She had started to tune them out as she's gotten used to this kind of thing. "Fine. You won't talk to me. Fine. Make me the bad guy here!" The daughter walked away, silently crying, knowing that speaking her mind wouldn't do any good.

  35. From the bachelorette: Rachel: “You lied to me. You’re a cheater. This is so out of your character. I deserve an explanation as to why you kept this from me for so long. We spent an entire weekend together and you sat on this information because you knew I would have left you that second. Just because we were on a break, does not mean our engagement was called off. Did you tell her that? That we were still engaged? Do you know how embarrassing that is for me? You ruined my whole journey. I have no other words for you.”
Tino sits there with a stunned look on his face. He rolls his eyes every few sentences. His eyebrows meet, eyes squint, and mouth rests open, as if he’s hearing this story for the first time. Or maybe his switching fingers suggest she’s leaving out an entire other part of the story.

  36. Ashley and Erica are best friends. They spend every single day together because they are roommates. This has taken a toll on their friendship in some ways. Ashley has more power over Erica. Erica feels intimated by Ashley and never has the guts to voice her opinions to Ashley. Just the other day Erica came home from a weekend in her hometown. She came back to the place being an absolute mess. There was old food on the table, dirty laundry strung across the floor, dishes all over the countertops, and so much more. When Ashley came out Erica didn’t say anything. Ashley said “Hey, I know the place is a mess… I had some people over this weekend but I knew you wouldn’t mind! I’ll clean it up later.” Erica just stayed silent and went to her room. 2 days had passed and Erica was tired of looking at Ashley’s mess that was still there so she cleaned it up herself. Ashley recognized the clean place and said to Erica “Wow! The place looks great. It was so messy before!” Erica was infuriated that Ashley didn’t even say thank you or apologize. Erica just gave Ashley a hateful look and walked away. Ashley said “What the heck is wrong with you? You are acting like I just committed a crime or something.” Erica wanted to say something so bad but she clenched her fist and refrained from saying something she knew that she would regret. Later on Ashley said “You know what Erica, I’m sorry. I’ve been thinking about what happened and it’s my fault. I should’ve cleaned up the mess and it wasn’t your responsibility.” Erica just leaned in and gave Ashley a hug. Without saying any words to accept the apology, both Ashley and Erica knew that they had made up from their argument.

Son: *His eyes widen and his lip starts to quiver.*
Mother: It's just a shot. It won't hurt that bad!
Son: *The color in his face begins to fade and his quivering lip turns into hyperventilation*
Mother: Say something! We have to go into their room. They just called your name again.
Son: *As his foot tries to take a step, he hesitates to move*
Mother: If you don't get up right now I'm going to drag you into that room. Stop being a child!
Son: *A tear falls from his face and his eyes are full of despair when he makes eye contact with her.
Mother: Look, I know you're scared, I can see it in your eyes. Trust me, it's not going to hurt that bad, and it'll only take a second. I'll walk in with you and hold your hand.
Son: *As the color begins to flow back into his face, he stands up and he walks into the room with confidence.*

  40. "What is your name?" said Meredith to the john doe patient laying on the table. He tried to respond ,but he couldn't speak. He lifted his hand off the bed and began trying to trace out a word. "Are you trying to write something?" Meredith asks. "Try and hold this pen." she said, but as she handed him the pen, he was too weak to get a grasp on it. "Lets try to use your finger to trace it out again" she says to him. He grabs the palm of her hand and begins to trace out the numbers 0-0-7. "007?" she asks. He squeezes her hand tightly. "Oh my gosh. George!" she exclaims. "John doe is George!" she yells.

He looks at me, eyes wider and whiter than ever. He breaks eye contact, looking down solemnly at the letter I am holding.
“You don’t have anything to say?” I say, my tone a bit more aggressive than before.
The anger throws him off, I can tell. He goes away for a second. Not physically, but I can tell he was traveling somewhere in his mind, his eyes glossing over. Maybe to a memory. Hopefully a good one. After a few seconds, he returns, finally looking me in the eye again. He shakes his head.
“What did I do that hurt you so badly that I don’t deserve an explanation?” I say pointedly.
He holds eye contact for a few more seconds, his gaze finally starting to drift, he looks like he is tracing all of my features, trying to memorize me. A single tear falls down his face. He looks back at me, his gaze turning more pleadingly as if he was begging me to understand, without saying a single word.
“You can’t, can you? You wish you could tell me, but you can’t.” I say, finally understanding.

  42. “Why do you lack such consistency?” She asked. No response. Not at this time of the month. The only answer is the lack thereof. “Sometimes you are so present that even my thoughts feel illuminated by that presence, but sometimes your absence leaves me feeling more solitary than ever.” She remarked. An answer came the next day. A sliver of light in the darkness. Hope for the nights to come. It was as if a comforting hand was being reached out to remind the girl she was not alone. “This simply is not enough. I can barely see the outline of my hands, let alone feel the one you’ve reached out to me.” She uttered into the night. More days passed and the girl felt less alone with each one. The nights became more and more full of light as did her heart. One night she walked outside and was bathed in light, and she felt at peace. Yet there was still an uneasiness in her mind. She knew that the light would go away yet again. Then she came to a realization. “You have proved me wrong without saying anything at all.” She spoke to the illuminated world. The moon simply continued to move through its phases, remaining consistent for the girl who craved it.

Sam looked at him inferring his thick eyebrows almost touches his glasses.
“Do you know the answer to number five?” He asked again.
Sam started to form movement with his pale hands. He was born deaf.
I understood what the problem was. I pulled out a piece of paper and wrote his question.
Sam wrote down his answer slowly and passed the paper back.
Out loud I exclaimed “how did you get 87??” “I got 54!”
I wrote down my reply. On the paper Sam explained how he got his answer. I finally understood the math question.
“Maybe I should learn ASL, who knows who else I will meet that is also hard of hearing”. I thought.
I wrote down my thought and I could tell by Sam’s expression that he loved my idea.
I went home and started ASL online courses. Then I pursued ASL for 3 years.

  45. Lola, a shy freshman who has been feeling the anxiety of being a first generation student, is hunched over all alone on a bench in the freshly cut vibrant green grass. She has a sense of worry on her face for what's to come the rest of the day, but whatever the reasoning behind this stress is, it is obvious she needs a friend. Rihanna, a popular junior who seems to know everyone sees Lola on the bench. She feels the need to go up to Lola, but doesn't want to disturb her alone time. After taking a couple more steps closer to Lola, Rihanna puts a welcoming smile on her face and says, "Hey! I'm Rihanna, what are you up to?" Lola doesn't take her headphones off to keep the only sense of comfort she has through music. She just looks at Rihanna, with her buggy eyes. "What are you listening to?" Rihanna asks calmly. Again, Lola can't find words to respond to Rihanna, she hasn't made any new friends yet because of her social anxiety. Lola's heart begins to race, and she thinks what is a socially acceptable way to respond. Lola instead just shows Rihanna the screen of her phone with the title and artist of the song she was listening to. "Oh, I've never heard of that before maybe I could get your snap and you can introduce me to some new music!" Rihanna understood that Lola had a hard time being open with new people, and feels a sense of sorrow for Lola's loneliness. Rihanna remembers a time in her life when she wasn't surrounded by the friends she has now, and wants to take Lola under her wing to show her there is more to life than staying in your comfort zone.

When one of my family members had COVID, they could only do so much, they couldn’t really get out of the bed or talk very loudly and or couldn’t do things for themselves, i helped them, and cared for them, every time i went in their room, they would signal to me to get some water for them, to get some soup for them, to take care of them. I didn’t really know what they needed in particular but their hand gestures and movements and body language, signaled to me what they needed. There were good days and bad days but mainly it was like this for the first week, unable to really hear what they really wanted to say, stuck in their body with only the outside showing what the inside was really feeling, only so much could have been said or done.

Y/n “You know I am not into that stuff at all, right? Like Id rather stay home and watch a horror movie with you while we eat popcorn.” H/n rolled her eyes and dragged you along with her anyways. As soon as y/n gets to the concert, the members of the band are coming on stage and they begin to sing “Stockholm Syndrome”. Y/n is standing there in the front row, and all the sudden Harry locks eyes with Y/n. But Harry is too scared to say anything. He blushes and gives y/n that smile that makes girls fall to the ground. He was wearing all black, with his hair down. He was absolutely stunning. Somehow he has a flower in his hair and he takes it out to give it to Y/n. Y/n blushes and looks down at the floor. The two keep looking at each other for a few minutes until Niall interrupts. “Maybe we should start singing again?” Harry is so embarrassed he runs a hand through his hair and smiles awkwardly. Before he does, Y/n asks for his number but because hes so embarrassed he cant speak. So he points to Y/n phone. Y/ hands Harry the phone and he puts his number in smiling. When he gives it back, he discreetly holds his hand up to his ear to let Y/n to call him after the concert.

  52. Today marks the two month anniversary of when Cameron checked his wife, Jenny, into the psychiatric hospital. He tries to go and visit her when he can, but he doesn’t want to go too much just in case it affects her. Today Cameron is going to visit her because he misses her, and he feels guilty he has not been in the last week. When he walks in the front desk worker asks him his name he responds, “Cameron Johnson, I am here to see my wife Jenny Johnson.” The lady at the front desk then tells him to follow her and Cameron does as she asks.
Once he gets into the room he says with a smile, “ Hi Jenny I missed you, sorry I haven’t been here in a couple days I’ve just been busy with work.” Jenny sitting in her chair just continues to stare out of the window. Cameron then proceeds to say, “I talked to your mom the other day, and she said that her and your dad are planning on having the family come out here for the holidays, and stay at our place so they can come see you. I told them I would have to run it past you, but I think it would be a good idea. What do you think?” Jenny just continues to sit staring out of the window frozen. She wants to turn around and jump into Camerons arms and say yes, and tell him how much she misses him and that she wants to go home, but something is stopping her. Cameron waits a minute before saying, “ It is ok Jenny, you can just think about it, and we can see how you feel in a couple weeks before we make our decision.” Jenny smiles slightly and Cameron sees, so he pulls up his chair closer to her so he can see what she is looking at, and sits in silence with her for the rest of his visitation time.

Finally, I slid closer to her in hopes of encouraging her to let me have every bad word she was thinking about me and everything would be ok, but she nudged urgently away from me like I was ill, toxic her worst nightmare. I was upset, “this friendship is over, isn’t it…” I said accepting the fact that I had to face the consequences of my actions. She stood up and looked at me, her eyes watery, her face slightly red, in that moment I felt every bit of hurt and betrayal built up in her body. She looked away and walked out the front door with no hesitation, that day I lost my best friend.

  56. The pit in her stomach went up to her throat as he swung the front door open out of pure raw anger. She sunk down in her chair holding back tears. "What the hell were you thinking" Dave screamed as he leans over the chair Kate had hidden herself in, He waited for a response but nothing was able to come out of Kates mouth not even a sound. Dave started pacing around the room in frustration, "You don't listen, you never have, I guess you're just always right and I know nothing" Dave said laughing with his arms implying that this was not something actually funny.
By this time around Kate knew better than to say anything to feed into this argument and the only way to help or protect herself was to sit there in silence. Although this time was different, she has no clue what dave was talking about.
As dave walked over to Kate still in the chair he leans in and whispers "I can't believe how stupid you truly are, you need me, and you are lucky I don't smack some sense and thought back into that small little mind of yours" as he stood up he taps the side of Kates head twice. She could smell the lingering scent of whiskey as he took his last exhale in her face

anything during those days. My mom said she has never seen me like that before. My uncle in the other hand was completely calm , during the whole ceremony he didn’t even say a word and everybody was talking about his “nonchalant “ attitude. I have never seen him so quiet in my entire life and this just made me understand that we all deal with our emotions differently

I never meant for this to happen, I never want to let my dad down like this ever again. His disappointment was immeasurable but it was rightfully so. It was definitely a one sided conversation if you can even call it that. He talked to me and I didn’t respond, I didn’t respond because I felt that I had nothing to say that he would want to hear. He could see that I was disappointed in myself too and that I was remorseful for what I had done. I didn't feel that I could even look him in the eye at this point. I kept my head down and looked at the ground. I didn’t know what to say to him, I wanted to say something but I couldn’t find the words.

No matter how hard I try she always seems to know. She continues, “Talking about it will make you feel better I promise.” As she says these words I think to myself there is nothing that will make me feel better. I desperately want to tell her the thoughts inside my head but I cannot open my mouth. I don’t know what to say. As I sit in silence she asks me, “Are you okay?”. These words bounce right off me. I want to say no but instead I nod my head. The rest of the drive home was silent unlike the thoughts inside my head.

“That there were so many tomatoes…”
“Tomatoes… Jinx! You owe me a soda!”
Aaron rolled his eyes a little and thought seriously, am I going to do this right now. Spencer was acting like a baby. I mean, come on, they were in 4th grade!
“Haha now you can’t talk Roni, I jinxed you! So where is my soda, because you know I'm not going to say your name.”
Aaron shrugged his shoulders and looked around. The only person he saw was Gabby. He thought maybe it could work. He pointed at Gabby and stuck out his tongue at Spencer.
“Gabby! You’re going to ask Gabby. As in Gabrielle Dumont! She won’t even understand you! You would have better luck getting me a soda!” exclaimed Spencer.
Aaron nodded his head and got up from the park bench.
“Oh come on Aaron, you know that she is creepy, like who in our class even talks to her? There could be a reason behind it.”
Now Spencer was just being childish. Aaron gave him the death glare and turned around to go to Gabby.
“Okay you know what, you can try! But I don’t think she knows your name. So how is she going to say it huh!”
Aaron turned around again to look at Spencer, maybe she didn’t, but she did pay attention in class and listened to the teacher call attendance, she would figure it out. He gave Spencer a grin and turned around again to start walking but again Spencer stopped him with a hand on his shoulder.
“Stop! She might eat you whole and spit out only your bones! You don't know what type of creature she is! I heard she was from a place called Toulouse! Does that not creep you out, come on Roni”
Aaron just shrugged Spencer off thinking Spencer needed to stop hanging around his weirdo, older brother and walked toward Gabby who was silently reading a book that looked a little too big for her tiny hands.

She just continues to stare at me with a look of betrayal on her face.
“Of course you aren’t going to respond. Look, I don’t understand why I am the one in the wrong here.. So what I told our friends about what happened? It’s not like the truth wasn’t going to come out eventually. They deserved to know that their ‘friend’, has been lying to all of them. I’m not the one in the wrong here. You’re the one continuing to use drugs when you told all of us you were clean.” More silence. Not even a look of remorse on her face.
“I was just worried about you and didn’t know what else to do to possibly help you. You’re selfish.” For a second it looks like she might say something, she opens her mouth to speak, but nothing comes out. As tears fill her eyes, she walks away from me and out the front door.

People don’t care!!!” Tim’s face had not changed. He stared blankly behind Joe as he talked, occasionally looking back at Joe. “Like, who does he think he is! We should tell someone about it, write to somebody, do something!!!” Tim checked his watch 5 times as Joe was saying that. “Tim, don’t you care that I’m upset?” Tim nodded. “Then be upset WITH me!” Tim scrunched up his face but didn’t keep it up. Tim went back to his normal stone-faced self. “Tim, thank you.” Tim allowed a smirk to creep over his face and then went back to normal.
